Ven Pongal

Ven Pongal is a very authentic dish,in fact one of my favorite dish.On a cold morning ven pongal and coconut chutney is really a feast to our tongue.Here goes the recipe
Ingrediants

Raw Rice       - 1 cup
Moong dhal   - 1/2 cup
water            -  5 cups
asofetida        - a pinch
ginger            -   50 gms
peper corns    -1 table spoon
zeera              - i table spoon
ghee                 -  1/4 cup
curry leaves        -  few
cashews             - as required

1. Dry roast moong dhal till good aroma comes.
2. Mix it with rice  and grated ginger , adequate salt add required water and preasure cook it .
3. After the rice and dhal is cooked smash it with a spoon
4. Heat Ghee in a seperate kadai add peper corns,zeera ,  cashews curry leaves and asofetida to it.Wait till the peper crakels and add it to the cooked mixture.
5. Serve it hot with coconut chutney
